About Me
My fields of interest are environmental economics and economics of race. I examine and implement solutions that address environmental and racial justice issues in the U.S and Africa.
My current research aims to understand the factors contributing to the engagement, success, and sense of belonging of Black and other minority students in college. With my research, I designed interventions to increase their graduation rate and prepare them for a successful career. My work is funded through grants from the National Science Foundation (Award No 2322665 2024-2029 -- PI).
My work also targets inclusive workforce development impact on Black workers’ productivity and retention in the energy sector. I received funding from Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC): Equity Workforce Planning: “Planning Workforce Development in Electrifying Building Energy Systems” (Co-PI) to better understand the barriers that prevent the full participation of Black workers in the clean energy field and provide targeted training and resources to increase their access and retention.

Research
In recent years, more awareness is drawn to socially and culturally constructed identities based on race, gender, class, religions, and others that have differential impacts on individual socioeconomic outcomes. Social justice thrives for fairness and equity in opportunities and outcomes within a society. My research seeks to examine existing inequalities and identify solutions to reduce the burden that historically marginalized groups face. I combined econometrics analysis with qualitative research methods to gather in-depth information about people’s experiences, attitudes, and behaviors. My research interests include social justice, environmental justice, Ecosystem Services, Marginalized Student Engagement and Success, Inclusive Energy Efficiency.
